Does posting time matter on Reddit or is it mostly content?
So I started paying more attention to when I was posting on Reddit. We tracked and analysed data across 1,000+ Reddit accounts to see a pattern.
A few consistent patterns that seem to help posts get early traction:
early mornings (around 6–9 AM EST) tend to work well, especially for more professional or discussion-based subreddits.
mid-week (Tuesday to Thursday) also shows more consistent performance compared to the start or end of the week.
for some context:
- r/socialmedia seemed to perform better mid-week mornings
- r/marketing leaned more toward Friday evenings
- More professional subs generally did better earlier in the day
also, posting slightly before peak hours seemed to work better than posting exactly at peak. It gives your content time to build early engagement before more people come online.
Content still matters more than timing. but from personal experience as well, timing does affect the engagement. If you're unsure, it's better to follow these patterns.
curious what others have seen here.
