NOT ADVERTISING - Seeking genuine opinions on the idea and whether you'd use it or think the ideas good or bad. I've built an app that completely changes the standards of social media. The biggest "features" that go against what we all know social media as today are:

100% Verified Users
99.99% of User data stored on users local device
No likes, no follows, no addictive algorithms
Self governed - user A reports Inappropriate content by user B - user A submits extra context if needed with report - user B submits a defense to go along with the "evidence" and User A's context. 20 jurors (your peers, within 20 mi) review the evidence and statements (everything's anonymous, can't see who reported or who got reported) jurors vote, 15+ say guilty = strike - 3 strikes lifetime ban.
Beyond Signal's secure messaging (Verified)
Everything is build with self destructing timers
Integrated and optional "dating" feature (turned off ny default, turning on opens up an entire new side of app)

Community app meant to create real life connections and bring communities and neighborhoods together

Je trouve l’idée intéressante, surtout parce qu’elle va à contre-courant de tout ce qui existe aujourd’hui. On sent qu’il y a une vraie intention derrière, notamment sur la vie privée et les interactions plus “réelles”.

Par contre, je ne suis pas sûr que tout le monde soit prêt pour ça tel quel.

Enlever les likes, les follows et les algorithmes, c’est cohérent avec ton positionnement… mais ce sont aussi les mécaniques qui donnent envie de revenir. Sans ça, il faut vraiment que la valeur perçue soit très forte dès le départ, sinon les gens décrochent vite.

Le système de modération par “jury” est original, mais je me demande comment ça va se comporter à l’usage. Entre le temps que ça prend, les biais possibles, ou le fait que les gens n’aient pas forcément envie de juger d’autres utilisateurs… ça peut soit créer une vraie dynamique communautaire, soit devenir un point de friction.

Le côté local / rencontres / communauté réelle est probablement ton levier le plus fort. C’est là où tu peux vraiment te différencier, surtout si l’app arrive à créer des interactions concrètes hors ligne.

Globalement, je dirais que l’idée est bonne, mais elle repose beaucoup sur un changement de comportement des utilisateurs. Et ça, c’est souvent la partie la plus difficile.

Ce genre de produit peut fonctionner, mais souvent en commençant par une niche très précise avant d’élargir.

The jury mechanic is the most interesting part, and also the one most likely to break first. 20 local jurors within 20 miles only works once you have meaningful density in a given area. Pre-density, you either get the same 5 people voting on everything or you can't form a jury at all. The bigger structural issue: everything that makes this "ethical social media" also removes standard growth levers. No follows = no network effect. No algorithms = no engagement loop. Verified users = signup friction. You're launching with every standard growth mechanism deliberately switched off.

Any people that runs 100 to 10k followers pages (any social media)?

Hey all, I own a business that involves many clients that promote their product, art or website with TikTok (also Instagram, Youtube and Facebook). I want to offer them a way to post their content, or to get content created and posted for them on existing TikTok pages. Basically you got pages in a specific theme (sport, anime, cinema, culture, memes...) and you rent it for a specific period of time. You get paid every month, and all you have to do is basically connecting the account once to our system. You can opt-out anytime you want, you keep the full ownership of the account. That's basically a way to monetize your pages passively. For now I'm doing it myself with my own pages (3 tiktok pages with 500 to 3k followers, and 1 6k subscribers Youtube channel), I made around $800 renting these for less than a month. Everything dying at 300 views for so long before I finally caught the problem

I've been absolutely obsessed with short form content for the last two years. Like people have staged actual interventions about my health level of obsessed.
