Content distribution strategy that 4x my reach in 3 months
Social media manager here, completely overhauled content distribution strategy and results exploded. Weekly reach went from 12k to 48k in just 3 months.
Old distribution strategy that was completely broken involved creating content, posting to instagram and linkedin only, maybe sharing to twitter if I remembered which was rare, hoping for best with no real plan, wondering why reach was terrible despite decent content.
Problems were obvious in hindsight which included inconsistent posting schedule, only using 2-3 platforms out of laziness, no systematic approach whatsoever, regularly forgetting platforms existed.
New distribution strategy that's actually working has four clear steps. Step one was platform selection where I identified all 7 platforms where target audience actually exists including linkedin, twitter, instagram, facebook, tiktok, youtube, pinterest.
Step two was format requirements where I mapped what each platform specifically needs. Linkedin wants long form professional content, twitter wants threaded insights, instagram wants visual carousels, and so on for each platform.
Step three was systematic distribution using blotato to handle platform-specific formatting and posting automatically. One piece of content now gets distributed properly to all 7 platforms without me touching each one.
Step four was optimal timing where each platform gets content at best time for that specific audience based on actual analytics data.
Results over 3 months show platforms managed went from 2 to 7, weekly reach from 12k to 48k which is 4x increase, time investment stayed same at 8 hours weekly, engagement rate improved from 2.3% to 3.7%.
Key lesson is distribution strategy matters just as much as creation volume if not more. Be everywhere systematically not randomly.
