I personally think people are getting exhausted of media. The media burnout is real and I think users are desperate for a media break so they are seeking new avenues to express themselves and/or onyl keeping up with people and businesses through other means.

Knowing this, in addition to my own exhaustion of social media, I created a new social platform where users are only able to follow each other if they meet IRL. Listen, Meta still has the largest active user base by orders of magnitude. Facebook, WhatsApp, and Instagram each have over 3 billion active users.

It is not only still worth marketing on, but still provides the best general ROI compared to any other social platform.

TikTok is just barely at 2 billion users, it's definitely worth running ads on, but it depends on your product and service, and how invested you are in influencer activity.

been through three of these cycles now and yeah it's exhausting.

the "own your audience" thing is correct but incomplete. you still need to be where people discover you. nobody's signing up for your email list from thin air.

what i'm doing in 2026: pick ONE platform to go hard on for discovery (twitter/x for me because my audience is there), then funnel people to something i control. for me that's email + the product itself.

the mistake i see people make is trying to be everywhere "just in case." you end up being mediocre on 5 platforms instead of good on 1. every time a new platform pops up there's this FOMO rush and 95% of the people who jump ship come back 3 months later anyway.

Funny how a company who never has original ideas keeps losing their user base on different platforms. After meta took over Instagram it lost its core identity. Now it just chases whatever other popular apps are doing, but never does it better. And now they’ve messed up the algorithm so much it’s not enjoyable. I’ve never seen a company so hard to make things worse.

Hey all, I own a business that involves many clients that promote their product, art or website with TikTok (also Instagram, Youtube and Facebook). I want to offer them a way to post their content, or to get content created and posted for them on existing TikTok pages. Basically you got pages in a specific theme (sport, anime, cinema, culture, memes...) and you rent it for a specific period of time. You get paid every month, and all you have to do is basically connecting the account once to our system. You can opt-out anytime you want, you keep the full ownership of the account. That's basically a way to monetize your pages passively.
