Why are young kids allowed to create fake accounts so easily on platforms like YouTube, Instagram, and other social media?

I’ve been noticing a growing problem where many users—especially content creators—are getting bullied, trolled, or harassed by fake accounts. A lot of these accounts seem to be run by under-18 kids who create multiple profiles just to make fun of others or spread negativity.

The biggest concern is: where is the control? Why aren’t social media platforms taking stricter action against fake accounts and repeated abuse?

Also, where are the parents in all this? Many kids are using the internet without guidance or responsibility, and it’s affecting others in a serious way. Online behavior should be taught just like real-life behavior.

This isn’t just about “fun” anymore—it’s becoming toxic. People’s mental health and hard work are being affected by anonymous bullying.

We need better moderation systems, stronger account verification, and more awareness among parents and young users.

It’s the reason why Reddit never took action either. When someone creates an alt. account it boosts platform metrics like user sign up, and every additional they comment also gets tracked.

This signals to investors that the platform is being used, even if it’s only by one person.

So the abuse is intentional, because every user action creates more revenue.

Social media has always been toxic. Social media doesn't care much about the age of their product.

Think about what needs to be done to stop kids from sm. Part of it entails having to submit id to some tech bro company.

Id's aren't that hard to fake. I did it myself 45 years ago. Online is even easier.

It's not just kids. There are buildings overseas filled with people getting paid to stir up crap online.

Don't get me started on bots.

Probably worth saying, there are (barely) restrictions on account creation, they are just so easy to bypass that they may as well not exist.

As others have noted, the platforms themselves have absolutely no incentive to actually limit account creation. But it gets worse: a lot of the fake accounts created on Meta are done as part of a money-related scam, the same accounts then go on to register with Meta for Business, and target users with fraudulent advertisements. Meta's response to this was to raise their rates, and ignore ~95% of all user submitted reports about fraudulent advertisements. They made $7 billion just from advertisements flagged as fraudulent, and it has been estimated that Meta is involved with 1/3rd of the entire US's money-related fraud incidents.

Hey all, I own a business that involves many clients that promote their product, art or website with TikTok (also Instagram, Youtube and Facebook). I want to offer them a way to post their content, or to get content created and posted for them on existing TikTok pages. Basically you got pages in a specific theme (sport, anime, cinema, culture, memes...) and you rent it for a specific period of time. You get paid every month, and all you have to do is basically connecting the account once to our system. You can opt-out anytime you want, you keep the full ownership of the account. That's basically a way to monetize your pages passively.
