Thoughts on vegan videos? Does this kind of thing really convince anyone?

it makes me feel very bad for these pigs, and acknowledge that factory farming is a moral failure of civilization

does it change my behaviour? no, not really

They can move people who are on the fence, sure.

This does not convince me to be vegan no, and I doubt it really convinces anyone honestly.

However studies have been done, and if we paid quite a small amount more for our our meats, we could improve livestock housing conditions, which we should do. It would have to come from government regulations though. Not all farms house their animals poorly, I worked at a hog farm growing up, and raised show pigs, it can be done better.

I'm in no way vegan or vegetarian. I love my meats. But I have worked in one of these piggeries and will never touch pork again.

I have in fact stopped eating a most pork except for like bacon on sandwiches because of videos like this. Not only that pigs remind me a lot of dogs in many ways so it's just hard to get past that mental hurdle.

In truth I don't like that I enjoy eating meat, but I can't say that ill stop any time soon. I'm just sure not to take more than I can finish and I never waste any.

Actually, yes. I think a lot of people don’t get it because they haven’t been immersed in loss and grief enough and they don’t have enough of a connection to other living things to really get what’s going on and to empathize with the suffering of other living things. Until you have some first person perspective and understand that these animals feel the same kind of emotions that you do. They feel fear they feel pain. They feel suffering, and they feel the miserable life that they have to endure from the moment that they’re born until they’re killed. I’m not totally vegan, but I definitely went vegetarian. Factory farming is off the hook cruelty. It is absolutely not natural at all. If you really went down there and saw what was going on, you’d empty the contents of your stomach. If not, you gotta have something wrong with you.

I mean, yeah kinda. I found out pigs have the intelligence of a toddler, similar to an intelligent dog (I say that cause my dog is dumb as rocks). It definitely sways me to cut down on the beef and pork for sure. Either way, the animals we eat would be treated and killed humanely.

Pigs are as smart or smarter than dogs.

It does for me. Especially the calf being dragged away from the mother cow and the mother chasing the trailer down the dirt road. I watched that video over and over. it broke my heart. And the undercover video of the workers in the KFC plant electrocuting chickens, breaking beaks, strangling them, slitting throats, kicking them. Beating milking cows with the ends of their belt buckles. Male chicks on a conveyor belt being dropped into a grinder because they are of no use to the food industry.

I take a small bus home and mentioned this to one of the bus drivers as she was driving me to my house who I knew is part of a community of homesteaders. She informed me of monthly out reach programs for people interested in finding locally sourced and ethical humane farms in and around our area, and how regular people can start out or just find something local.

The videos that change people's minds about eating meat would be taken down from this channel FAST, and you would be down voted to hell if not permabanned. Beyond NSFW.

And don't kid yourself, if you watch videos of how animals are mistreated and how they are slaughtered and feel you can still keep a straight face while unaffected, the only prize is to know you are quite probably a psychopath.

I still eat meat, but I accept I can't watch how animals are mistreated. I am not vegan, but it is clear to me that being at least vegetarian would be the most moral position BY FAR.
