unfollowing

So I feel like I’m losing my mind and I want to know if this is a thing or not. A while ago I unfollowed someone on TikTok, and within that week, I got a notification that they started following me. They were already following me before I unfollowed them, but I figured they just unfollowed and refollowed my account. But since that moment I occasionally get a notification that they, again, started following me. I’ve gotten it about 3/4 times over the span of two months.

Does TikTok just send me this notification randomly to get me to follow this person back, because they’re in my contacts or something? Or has this person been repeatedly unfollowing and refollowing me?
