Social media apps keep copying each other… but here’s one feature I’d actually like to see TikTok copy

Over time, social media platforms have been copying eachother more and more. Instagram added reels after TikTok took off, TikTok added notes, and it just keeps going like that. It's kind of annoying seeing platforms copy features instead of coming up with their own ideas, but clearly it works or they wouldn't keep doing it.

That said, this post is a bit hypocritical since there is one feature I'd actually like to see TikTok copy: story highlights. A lot of people I know, including me, mainly post on stories because main posts can feel intimidating with likes and views being visible. Having a way for the public to view past stories on your profile would make sense and be really useful imo

Obviously the response to this would be "Just use Instagram," and to that I say you're right. But if platforms are going to keep copying each other anyway, this is one feature I'd like to see. And this doesn't just apply to TikTok, it's just the platform | spend the most time on. I like the idea of being able to organise stories into highlights and not having to worry as much about likes or view counts.
