Why do some people donate so much money to streamers?

A lot of streamers are paid by other streamers. We see this in the music industry with remix competitions where people who know the artist are picked for the prizes. Same thing goes with streamers. I dont doubt there are some with people donating that know the streamer so it looks like they are bringing in an audience.

It is such a waste of money! I gave some myself and I for the life of me can't' figure out why people keep doing it over and over. It's not even fun. I mean literally they encourage us to give so that they can win a pointless 'battle' for points against other streamers ...? It's genuinely ridiculous tbh. And no, most streamers do not get paid by other streamers, they actually get paid by their real fans. Just for streaming. They basically sit around guilting their fans into giving so they can keep their fragments or go up in fragments. It's honestly the most pointless thing. I mean and all you get for giving is a higher fan level which means absolutely nothing at all tbh. It's not like there is any incentive for people to keep giving to these streamers ....? At least not as far as I can see tbh.

I don't know. I made 45 bucks playing video games a few nights a week. Works for me. I was going to play anyway.

Idk I see people like Kai beg for money when he's rich, when I streamed I made 500$ from 10-20 views in 3 months. Wish I kept up now I'm still broke and no community 😂

For me it was the only way to survive when homeless. And I'm disabled so it is never a waste. The 2 Turkey Trots i got for Thanksgiving paid for my basic non fitted wheelchair. I don't get gifts like that huge often it is a group effort and honestly it is hard to stream 12hrs a day.

I was working 12 in an irl job, streaming 8. Sleeping for 4... my body broke again lol. It keeps happening because I have to overwork to get barely the bare minimum for food and medication.

I never give money but if I were to I would give it to someone I watch that does commentary on beggars lives. There's one I follow that I like to listen to for a few hours every night. There's group is smaller and the chat is fun.

Because people see it as supporting a creator they like so that they can keep making content
