The real bottleneck at our agency isn't content creation. It's waiting for "yes."
Been thinking about this a lot lately.
Writing a social post takes maybe 20 minutes. Designing the creative, another 30. Call it an hour of actual work per post.
Then it goes into the approval loop:
- Internal review (someone has to actually open it and check)
- Send to client
- Client opens it 2 days later
- "Can we change the headline"
- Revision
- Re-send
- "Looks good" on whatsapp at 11pm
- Nobody's sure if that counts as formal approval
One hour of work, five days of waiting. And the post was about something time-sensitive that's now half-stale by the time it goes live.
The weird part is everyone treats this as normal. Like the approval delay is just weather. Something that happens to you.
Curious how others handle it:
- Do you have a hard approval deadline in your contracts (48 hours, auto-approve, etc)?
- One channel for approvals or wherever the client wants to reply?
- Anyone actually solved this or is it just the job?
