No option for subtitles

In March got a new phone (S26) and I've been waiting for the option of subtitles to become available on videos but no matter how updated I keep the app or what settings I toggle with I cannot get subtitles, it is quite frustrating as I like to use them. Anyone else experiencing the same thing?
