How can I reach an US audience from Europe?
Hey everyone
I’ve been trying to understand how social media platforms distribute content geographically, and I keep running into the same issue.
I’m based in Europe, but I’m trying to reach a North American audience since the type of content I’m working on seems to resonate much more there than locally. However, most of my posts (especially on TikTok and Instagram) keep getting shown to people in my region instead.
Even when posting in English and adjusting content style, the reach doesn’t seem to shift much.
So I’m curious from a more technical perspective:
- Do platforms tend to prioritize local audiences by default?
- Is starting a new account effective in changing that?
- How much does location data (IP, SIM, etc.) influence distribution?
I’d really appreciate any insights from people who’ve experienced something similar.
