Achieving Natural Light

Hi all,

I work for a badly run fashion business and have been thrown into a position of creating and overseeing all content for socials, but am also being criticised when the lighting isn't good enough. I've been told I need to work out how to achieve a natural light in the only room in the office that can potentially be used for any kind of content. It has a bit of light that comes in but its definitely limited, and then if it's not a really bright day it's just a total no go.

As someone with absolutely NO idea about lighting or photography... I'm struggling to give the boss what she wants.

Can I get some advice or any suggestions on if there's a type of stand lighting that can mimic natural light in some kind of way? Ring lights aren't cutting it - they are too harsh.

yeah ring lights can be pretty harsh, that’s normal

what you’re looking for is softer, diffused light rather than direct light

things like softbox lights or LED panels with diffusion usually give a more “natural” look, especially if you bounce the light or use a warmer color temperature

even small changes in positioning can make a big difference, it’s less about brightness and more about how the light falls

Hey all, I own a business that involves many clients that promote their product, art or website with TikTok (also Instagram, Youtube and Facebook). Basically you got pages in a specific theme (sport, anime, cinema, culture, memes...) and you rent it for a specific period of time.
