Imagine having to deal with that on your commute. New York is something else.

The culture in the US is so toxic, it really seems to compound on the mental health crisis in the country, now mingle that with firearm access and you give every demented or deranged person the ability to commit mass murder on a whim

Btw I'm not anti-gun, I have firearms myself

For the bots trying to say it's just NYC: https://www.congress.gov/119/meeting/house/118642/documents/HHRG-119-JU13-20250929-SD007-U7.pdf

Ok yesterday I commented that running my kid over with my car is my biggest fear (on a story about an influencer backing over her child)

But I take that back now. Being with my baby and having someone pull out a gun is actually my biggest fear. I live in FL and guns are everywhere. It’s terrifying.

OP, I feel your pain and it’s sick you had to experience that. But NYC isn’t the issue, deinstitutionalization and lack of community care is.

Crazy aholes are everywhere. Crazy aholes with guns are in US. There's your "freedom".

Gun control. And if that is not wanted, make the people that don‘t want it pay for: Security and Detectors at every entrance and Exit of the subs.

Humans have always been the monsters.

This isn't a commute problem. Or a New York problem. This is a "let's just let anyone have a gun because why the hell not" problem.

Anywhere else in the world, outside of a warzone, this would have ended up with a massive police presence until the guy was caught. Because the rest of the world doesn't expect some random nutter to ever be able to have a gun.

Not New-York, the U.S is something else!

This isn’t a New York problem. That’s a United States problem. She’d need to move to another country if she wanted to be safe from daily gun violence.
