Happens every time
Or the equally irritating opposite, "watch whatever you want, I'll just be on my phone" then the second you turn something on, they want to tell you an entire story about everything.

I stopped sharing movies or tv cause of this.
My wife fell asleep when I tried to show her Monty Python and the Holy Grail. Almost got divorced.
Why even be in a relationship?
What annoys me is the, "I don't care, just put on anything." Sure thing, I love horror movies, easy pick for me, "No, its too late for horror." Okay, how about a thriller? "Naw, not in the mood for that rn." Drama? "Sure I guess, I really don't care, just pick something." I picked like 4 things and you made me change every one.
Or a probably esoteric issue with my girl. She has to know EVERYTHING that is going on. So if it's a movie she hasn't seen before the first thing she does is look up the entire plot. Makes it hard to talk about my theories on what's happening when she already looked up the ending
Then have the audacity to ask questions that would know the answers to if they followed along.
Felt that “okay”
Why isn't his wife playing the part of his wife...?
I’m two ways about this. On one hand, it’s kind of your partner to give something a chance that you love and want to share it with you. On the other hand, it’s ok to have different likes and not want to sit through a 4 hour extended edition LOTR film (thankfully, my girlfriend loves LOTR but just as an example). It can be kind of selfish to expect them to sit through something like that.
We came up with a compromise. If we want to show each other a film, we’re allowed to check out after 30 minutes if we’re not into it. My girlfriend doesn’t want to sit through the John Wick franchise anymore than I want to watch a season of Real Housewives, and I can’t blame her for that. It’s all subjective. I want to play a co-op RPG or shooter with her, she’ll give me Donkey Kong. She wants to play extremely competitive board games with me. I’ll give her scrabble. Other things, we both like a lot and can enjoy together like Spider-Man films or Mario Kart. She just watched Scream VII with me, but she wouldn’t watch Weapons. We go on walks together. We go to the movies. We go out to eat. Road trips. Museums. Relationships are about balance.
I’m actually grateful that my mother at least tries to engage with the TV shows or movies I watched.
