My frustrations as a creator. (please feel free to share yours too)

I'm assuming since tiktok was bought by and american billionaire that its performance and overall optimization has went down the drain. It takes for ever for my videos to get views now and most of the time they dont get anywhere near the engagement they used to. I used to do fairly well (as a small creator) my likes would range from 75-500. Now its anywhere from 9-20. Quite a difference. And unfortunately I rely on it as a free lancer doing audio engineering.

Its one thing for it to need recalibrated after it was bought out but it seems like it goes even more downhill each week. My videos have an obvious niche and i never really stray from that but i get the feeling it just launches them to a completely unrelated crowd.

I've been doing research, watching other creators explain the new "algorithm" (not just those obvious fake accounts that push tiktok tools) and still no luck.

Anyone find any workarounds or still have success as a creator?

You have to pay to extend your reach. No way around it. Anyone you see now with big numbers pay for it.

Have you / or anyone read or have ChatGPT read the T&S you be surprised how much we didn’t have before the merge. So it sucks to say it’s nothing really new it’s just now being for visible. Just this morning I was streaming on TT Pragmata the last few days and got flagged for unoriginal content like what!!! So unfortunate, if you/we dont like it we gotta find another option.

My account just blew up in the last couple of months. I’m not paying, so I don’t think that’s the key. I recently had a video go viral on both TikTok and Instagram. What seems to be key for me is creating searchable content. A consistent formula has helped too- I know that people recognize my videos when they see them right away.

I feel you 100%. TikTok has turned into a straight-up greedy platform. It’s basically “pay to play” now - if you’re not running ads or buying promotion, your videos get buried and shown to almost no one. Organic reach is dead unless you’re already huge or posting 5+ times a day with perfect trends. I used to get decent views as a small creator too, now it’s the same story: 10–30 views and then nothing. Without spending money, the algorithm barely gives your content a chance. It sucks especially for freelancers like you doing audio engineering. The platform used to be great for niche creators, now it feels like they only want to promote people who pay. Have you tried posting at different times or using different hashtags? Curious if anything has worked for you lately.
