Views tanking and followers dropping - is this just the new TikTok?

Ever since 2026 rolled in, my views have plummeted and my following count is even dropping!

Last year, I’d easily get between 100k - 500k views on every single post. Now I’m barely reaching 10K over the span of a week. I’ve been creating in this niche since 2023 and I’m honestly at my wits end. It’s beyond disheartening to see content you’ve spent hours shooting getting no traction, when a few months ago, it would easily have gone viral.

I can see it’s happening to a few mutuals as well, but then there are also a few select creators in this niche that are just soaring with views and followers. And the quality of the content is pretty much the same between them all.

Is anyone else experiencing this? Is the only way to grow on TikTok to pay for views now? I’m so close to just giving up.

Yes absolutely THIS. Especially the part about some people in my niche seem to be soaring despite posting literally the same/identical content with the same/even worse hooks. It makes no sense. I guess it doesn’t help that I’m in a saturated niche but at the same time, it genuinely seems like it’s more random now. Like the app will choose accounts to push out more now whereas it used to be different even just a year ago. ugh.

THIS! I averaged the same views as you. Since march I'm having 0 fyp exposure, despite no violations, warnings, etc. My content is original, no IA, and not politics. Still, I basically disappeared for the algorithm. Honestly, I stopped posting (since I felt like I was wasting content) and I am trying to build my platform somewhere else. Just wanted to let you know you're not the only one experiencing this

People get bored seeing the same people doing the same stuff. The guy making faces at builders for example. It was always really boring but I tended to watch, now I don’t want to see his face moving left and right doing almost nothing worthy of my time

Yup I never had that many just 700-900 but suddenly I’m stuck in 30 views hell. No idea why or how to fix it.

My FYP has been showing me irrelevant content lately and suppressing my favorite content creators. My FYP has gotten so boring that I mostly stick to the following tab. But TikTok has 100% been suppressing content creators so they don't have to pay them.
