SydTowle’s Oncologist stopped treating her

Might be that continuing with treatment could make her quality of life worse with little chance of success? I’m not sure… she seems to have been suffering a lot in the last couple weeks :(

It’s probably at a point where her oncologist believes that chemo will do more harm than good, especially since she’s progressed on this regimen. He’s recommending what he believes to be the best course of action based on his clinical experience, but that’s why second opinions are always a good thing to pursue. I’m glad she was able to find another hospital that will treat her, and I hope she can stay stable enough for the clinical trial!

Im assuming he is thinking there is nothing more that can be done. Ugh sad

I wish things were different but she said the chemo they tried wasn’t working. I don’t think she would survive rigorous chemo. I know there’s many different types though. Cancer sucks

In order to be eligible to continue with the clinical trial I believe they said her current chemotherapy had to either be shrinking her tumors or maintaining their size, and since the cancer has recently spread, it doesn't appear that it's working. If she can't continue with the trial, perhaps her doctor thinks there isn't much more that can be done. I'm glad she's getting another opinion, though, if only for her own peace of mind; that must have been devastating news for someone who's always been so hopeful.

There comes a point in time when someone has to say “stop” chemo wrecks the body, it literally steals your body. Yes some people get better others unfortunately don’t. The doctor is doing what he feels is best.

What u just explained sound like a process I went through last year before doing immunotherapy, it’s a specific round of chemo and is only 1 round so if she’s not a good candidate for it then they won’t give it sadly.

The toxic positivity in her comments makes me so sad. I’ve seen end stage of this disease. I feel awful for her. She’s already done 50+ rounds of chemo over the years. There is no sudden massive turn around.
