I guess they'll just have to give up their avocado toast and $9 coffees...

I don't mind them giving themselves a pay raise, after they fix campaign finance laws and stop the revolving door.

I will forever think of the video of that tiktok lady who asked her male friends to do this and they all did without even the context of the video she was doing (similar to above, but about men being ignored by a woman walking by or something innocuous like that)

First, I am just as upset at our federal govt as the next person on reddit. But this isn't telling the whole story.

But for a lot of positions, government employees cannot make more than congressional representatives. There are amazing researchers and civil servants who can't get paid more than some third year lawyer at a power broker in NY.

When Congress gives themselves a raise, it allows for a lot of the best and brightest in govt to get raises too. The govt loses a lot of great leaders and researchers and engineers every year because of the congressional pay cap.

I'm not sure what the right solution would be here. But the cap is meant to keep corruption down which...really hasn't worked lately.

Every public service memeber should HAVE to spend a year on the minimum wage of their state! Force them to live the life they are voting against every turn. No private jets, no personal EV car with its own driver. You take cabs, subway and the bus like the rest of the population you told "Dont deserve any more money, because struggle makes people work harder."

Federal minimum wage has been frozen at $7.25 since 2009, why is that not a problem?
