Is Tiktok Use Going Down?

I'm a fairly large creator and I used to do so much better on Tiktok than on Instagram. These days, though, my Instagram content is performing sometimes 3-4x better than Tiktok. It's made it super depressing using the platform. Has anyone else experienced this?

Same. Doesn’t matter the watch time, engagement, anything it won’t budge. I made a consistent living on titkok but not anymore. I could now go work at McDonald’s and make more. On all other platforms I continue to go viral (YouTube, IG, Snapchat)

Yes - absolutely. Exactly as you, my content is skyrocketing on Instagram and lagging on TikTok. It used to be the opposite. So depressing because it seems like some accounts are either unaffected by this or are skyrocketing for some reason. My theory is TikTok internally tags accounts to target for pay per view. I only have 22k on TikTok and have been thinking of just starting a new account bc I swear my videos would get pushed out more.

SWCEO on YouTube made a great video on it! She does mainly talk about sex work but what she sassy apples to any industry!

My audience has always been 35+ so I haven't really seen a decline. My theory is that the younger demographics have decreased a lot more than the 35+ user base.

Not a creator but as a user I haven’t really touched the app since it was handed over to the US government. The algorithm is not the same one that magically knew what I wanted to watch and adjusted to my mood perfectly. So at this point, I just use Instagram and Facebook reels. Don’t get me wrong, they are far from perfect and definitely so far inferior to the original TT algo, but they are good enough so I use them now.

They don’t want people making money. They want you in a factory, an office or fighting for your life.

I used to use YouTube for vidoes, and Instagram for pictures. Some TikTokers uploads too many short videos per day. I don't really like this.

As a user it seems like the ads have increased so much. I have to swipe past like 2-3 ads, live product sales, etc to see a post I might be interested in. When they increase ad views, those are views that would have previously gone to creators.

yeah ive noticed this too and honestly its been a weird shift. tiktok's algorithm got way more saturated and they seem to be pushing certain content types harder while completely ghosting others. i had a friend who was doing 500k+ views consistently and now hes lucky to hit 100k on the same type of content. meanwhile shes posting the same stuff to instagram reels and getting like 10x the engagement.

i think a lot of creators are just migrating their energy elsewhere at this point because the payoff isnt there anymore. tiktok built creators up then kind of abandoned the algorithm thats made them successful? its frustrating as hell and i get why youre feeling depressed about it. the platform that was supposed to be the great equalizer just feels like a second priority now for a ton of people.
