What's the catch with promote?

They are real people and some spam. However, its people will like and follow anything. So it gives you a ton of “followers” but not people who are actually interested in it or who will keep watching. It’s just a bunch of people who have like 4,000+ followers. So they won’t even see your stuff again anyway. Promoting will sink your account; your views will be low unless you pay again. Not to mention your videos show up as an “ad”. Then people know it’s promoted and will skip liking it. It’s a waste of time and money.
