We have boomers on our block that have done that. They literally own like 4 homes!!! They aren't even renting them, they're just sitting vacant. It's so stupid and selfish.
In Ontario, this is increasingly becoming the role of private equity firms.

Just going to say this, but POV was used wrong.
My in laws telling us we should pay triple our mortgage so we can pay it off earlier, like they did. Their mortgage was less than our current power bill.

It should be "rich Californians outbidding a young family on a house in Washington/Oregon/Idaho only to rent it back to them for $3500 a month". As an insurance agent....I see this all the time.
