Sports betting legalization was one of the worst mistakes we’ve made
Maybe the war on drugs isn’t the best thing to emulate, as it has been a spectacular failure
I hate losing 5 dollars so that’s a no for me dawg
They need to ban it.
It’s crazy that they made that much in a single year and yet these insatiable fucks wanted to legalize it in more states. Don’t u think u have enough money already??? How many more lives do u wanna ruin just so u can get a 20th house. Greedy fucks.
My theory is that sports betting is going to destroy the middle and upper middle class
What is crazy is the apps know what bets you place and what odds... they can use algorithms to customize a risk profile to keep the user hooked.
Men just casually gambling away their families' money.
It's crazy how we as a society have banned all sorts of addictive drugs but just tolerate and even advertise gambling addiction.
Aaaaand credit card usage is up, repos on cars are up (higher than 2009😬), and late rent/mortgage payments are up. But I doubt that has anything to do with any of this.
I had a guy at my daughters soccer game tell me when I asked what he did that he was a gambler. When I pried he said he was a sports better and also played roulette. This was his work I guess? I was so confused. Like roulette? For real?
I have no idea what the situation is with the Texas football player. Regarding sports betting and gambling in general, it is one of the most destructive addictions. I am so happy for the younger generations that, by all measures, are ditching alcohol, but gambling slipped in through that closing door. If it isn't sports betting, it is crazy market betting or some other gamble. Shit, it's freaking Pokémon cards. I think social media, while it doesnt glorify alcohol, LOVES to show a good bet, whether it is a sports bet, a livestream of someone watching the stock market, or a pack opening. I know too many younger kids sitting around and waiting to hit their big win or become famous or get their bag, meanwhile they are stacking up debt (and I know there are a lot of complicated social and cultural issues at play here, I'm not blaming). It is all accessible via their phone. Gambling addicts have high suicide rates. I think John Oliver did a really great piece about gambling/betting and just how utterly destructive it can be.
