TikTok search showing videos in different languages and with low views

Has there been a change to the search algorithm? I used to get pretty popular tiktoks all in english or the language I searched the term in, but for some time now the search shows tiktoks with low views in different languages. They are still related to my search but there seems to no longer be a "most popular+in your language=most relevant" rule. It's kinda annoying and the only workaround is using sort by popularity filter but even that doesn't even work as well as it used to.
