I just learned that this happened over on Twitter a while back. As someone who likes Keith Haring's work I despise this with all of my being. This is so disgusting.

Anyone who cares about art knows AI finishing it isn’t the point. This is like using AI to write happy endings to Greek tragedies.

This is a nothingburger of a story, because even giving it attention validates that it is meaningful what happened here. It isn’t.

People who use ai are talentless hacks. They could have done it by hand in honor of haring and in time for Pride month. But instead they used something that notoriously steals from artists to spit in everyone’s face. Fucking hate this shit.

This does remind me of that one artist who made an interactive art piece with Candy. People were meant to eat it and it would be consumed/cease to exist with was part of the meaning (it was made in honor of their partner who he lost to AIds) of that art but the candy just keeps getting added back to it by the museum as it's consumed so there is no longer any true meaning. Using AI to finish this renders it completely meaningless.

Just another example of the complete soulessness of generative ai.
