Why does low effort content do so well on tik tok?

A big trend in tik tok right now is “yap” content. Most of it is people laying bed, sometimes not even dressed, or talking with very weird unfaltering angles. It’s so odd. I guess it’s “relatable” of whatever, but come on when it comes to bigger creators? Like they are playing people. Lying in bed with the flashlight in your face dosent make you relatable at all.

I mean I watch some of them and enjoy them, but it’s so weird that that’s what preforming best at the moment.

The platform is built for low effort, high volume content. It tends to reward people who upload many times a day. You can't create an awe inspiring masterpiece of a video 3x a day.

It's the same as reddit. A throwaway joke on here will get a lot more reaction than a considered, researched effort to help the original poster. You often don't even get a response from the OP that has asked the question.
