What is going on with TikTok search?

Lately when I search for something on TikTok, unrelated stuff pops up instead. It feels more like the FYP than an actual search. Sometimes only a handful of videos show up, and most of them have nothing to do with what I typed.

I saw a comment on a video pointing this out too: someone said they searched for a completely different topic and that video showed up anyway, which is why they were commenting on it in the first place. The comment had a ton of likes, so it’s clearly not just me. Some replies had their own theories about why this is happening, but honestly, I think it’s just enshittification.

Search used to be the main reason I kept TikTok installed. You could actually find what you were looking for, unlike on Instagram, for example. Now it feels like that’s slipping away too.
