He has a point here and I can't find a good argument.

They don't care if the homeless have housing.

They care if the homeless are far away from them.

If the prison was outdoors with no food provided or of they were moved to be homeless in another state or country, those same people would not care one bit.

New perspective unlocked. Thank you.

Well my house sucks, and my food sucks, and my life is miserable, so why should I let anyone beneath me get it for nothing? Clearly everything is their fault and not the people that buy up the best houses, overprice all the food, and hoard all the wealth. They give me enough shiny distractions juuuust within arms reach to keep me placated. What do homeless people give me? Nothing.

No, no, no, let me let you in on a secret.

They don't think they should be cared or provided for. They think they should be punished. That includes dehumanizing them and putting them in cages. It doesn't mean "taking care of them and providing basic human necessities".

I think that homeless people should be provided with free food, water, treatment, social support, and more.

However, I also think that it should be mandatory.

At a much higher cost as well - roughly $65k per person annually for prison, compared to roughly $35k annually for public housing

Forsaken-Face18271 day ago1

The key difference being that you can't force a homeless person to work unless they're sent to prison.
