Sounds like he was experiencing some kind of psychotic break. Since it is in Thailand, he could have easily gotten his hands on some psychedelics or other harder drugs that could have contributed to his erratic behavior.

The whole mumbling religious stuff points towards psychedelics though, unless he was just ultra-religious already.

I just listened to a YouTuber talk about Noemi and Audrey Belanger that died in 2012 after drinking illegal/dangerous cocktails in Thailand. Maybe he did the same? 🤷🏻‍♂️
