I've done this in the past, please don't do it and push yourself and others away. It's likely you have some serious past traumas that need attention and correction.

I had a girlfriend in my 20s that wanted me to be sad, happy or angry when she was. She would get upset if I was enjoying myself and she wasn't. I was always making her feel bad... She threatened to hurt herself if I left her. When I finally left she had another boyfriend within a few days, I stayed single for a couple of years. People are crazy sometimes.

Gotta be honest, I find it really hard to relate to people from happy families. I don’t feel badly towards them at all, but the differences between us are just obvious. I was never abused but my parents hated each other and had a terrible, terrible relationship. Alcohol abuse and health problems run in my family. A lot of people act like life runs on rails for them and they never have to worry about anything, or about whether they can rely on or trust their family. I can’t relate to that. Even just telling people that my parents are divorced makes me feel like a freak around most people, even though it’s not that uncommon. One upside is that if I ever have kids - and that’s not likely, but if it happens - their upbringing isn’t going to be like mine. I don’t blame my parents for what happened between them and how it affected me, but I’ll never do that to a kid.

it is bad when they woudl rather be with their fucked up miserable dysfunctional family

unfortunately when people sometimes grow up in unloving households like that it is all they know :(

there Is no fixing them

Some people would rather drag someone into a bad relationship over working on their own problems and faults.

I have a loving family but I keep my distance because I get emotionally drained being around them constantly.

I'm trying to figure out how people have that much patience and energy after hanging out with their entire family.
