Sometimes people don't deserve a second chance.

His decision to make every attendee sit in silence for that period of time came after defence barrister, Damien Gates, told the court his client, aged 35, had sex with a 14-year-old girl for five minutes.

He said at that point his client realised he was doing something wrong and stopped.

He called it "poor impulse control," The Courier Mail reported.

A 35-year-old man. A 14-year-old girl.

So, Judge Haddrick decided to make the court sit in those five minutes. And think about how long five minutes really feels.

Five minutes. A silent courtroom. And the reason this judge's reaction has gone viral.

I’m sitting in a doctors office right now, 5 minutes is an eternity, I can’t image being sexually assaulted for that or any amount of time

The piece of shit only got 18 months btw and could be out in 6 for good behavior. Anyone that would do something like this to a child deserves to spend a significant part of their life behind bars.

There’s no might about it. That child will suffer for life now.

Why 'SA?' It's Sexual Abuse. You can say it out loud. Think of it that those 5 minutes the judge insisted on. Say the words.

Reminds me of the phrase "20 minutes of action". Brock Turner's father, Dan Turner, in a letter to the judge pleading for leniency. He wrote that his son should not face a long prison sentence, describing the assault as "20 minutes of action out of his 20 plus years of life''.

Five minutes can be a LONG time.

Does anyone else find it offensive for the victims that people don't use the words and say SA? Like it is sexual assault how can you minimize it like that by using abbreviations or trying to obey some squeaky clean corporate bulshit.

There have been several cases where the court sits in silence while a lawyer bangs on a table (the same amount someone was stabbed) and it really does show how awful/overkill it was. Some people deserve to taken out of society.
