Organically growing a small account

I spent $4 yesterday and got around 200 followers, which is crazy because I’ve had my account for around seven months and had a little less than 500 followers… most of my videos consistently hit around 500-1k views, but as for likes, I’ve just now surpassed 10k. It’s just a hobby I do for fun, and I mainly post selfies, makeup, lifestyle, fashion, etc. I am open to pivoting to funny/relatable content, but as my entire follower base is pretty much men who follow for thirst traps right now, I’m not even sure if that’d encourage engagement. I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong - I might just not be pretty enough, but I still wish I could grow this into something bigger that could eventually earn me some pocket change. Knowing that $4 did so much for me in twelve hours makes it tempting to spend more money, too, but I really don’t want to have to ride the algorithm so inorganically.
