Thoughts with the constant US/EU food war?

I hear it all the time. Food in US bad. Bread in US bad because it's prepackaged and not like we have bakeries or import some of our fruits here.. I even know some Europeans who love our food.

It sometimes get annoying. Heck, some don't buy in to the whole US/EU food is bad because all food is bad if it's not eaten in moderation.

Also, the EU has their same store shelf breads and things and they, too, have a longer shelf life.

This guy's blatantly false, white bread will mold. Tortillas will mold as well. I'm not saying people shouldn't eat freshly baked bread, or whole foods but the most important thing you can do for your health is eat what you can afford.

This is the same energy as Tucker Carlson goes to Russian grocery store.

I live in Texas and the food absolutely goes bad. Actually quicker than it used to.

A lot of it is just straight up misinformation. "Their bread is just 4 ingredients." Okay. So a lot of grocery store sandwich bread also only has a few ingredients unless you count the vitamins it's fortified with. "We waste less food here." How? If your bread and tortillas never ever go bad and you can use them indefinitely, how are you wasting those foods?

There is this idea that the USA has a bunch of foods that are banned in Europe. That is true. But there are also ingredients that are banned in the USA but allowable in Europe. How we label things is also different. We have to put the full vitamin names, Europe doesn't, I believe. So sometimes ingredients lists look longer. There is a video from Food Science Babe on Instragram about Oatmeal that I think is the perfect explanation for this.

The USA relies a lot on ultra processed foods. Which isn't good. There are definitely issues. But the misinformation is annoying.

Fresh bread goes stale after one or two days. Berries last for a few days. Bananas go brown before the end of the week. Where is the magic American food that doesn't go stale or rot? I live in CA. Point me to it please.

berries and food goes bad in America. we also have shitty white bread that you don’t have to buy, you can just go to a bakery. this has to be rage bait

Meanwhile some European countries prefer UHT milk - cow's milk that has been pasteurized at very high temperatures, making it shelf stable at room temp. I saw it everywhere when I visited Spain, and at no point did I go "eww why do Europeans have weird ultraprocessed milk that never goes bad!? Gross, I prefer REAL milk!"
