My aunt has spina bifida and grew up in the 60s and 70s. She was, of course, teased about it and came home and told her mother. My grandma told her that kids who bully her only do it because they lack love in their life, and for themselves, so they lash out at others.

The next day, when she was teased again, she told the boy "Well, at least I'm loved. Nobody loves you." 😅

The school called but my grandma had same response.. if she didn't start the fight, then she has every right to respond.
