issue with creating a password

i just created a new TikTok account today and somehow it let me create the account itself, but it wouldn’t let me create a password or passkey. whenever i try i get the message “can’t change settings for security reasons” and “we weren’t able to save your passkey. we recommend setting a new one” which is what i’m trying to do??? i’ve already verified my email and updated the app to the newest version. does anyone know what’s going on and how to fix this?
