TikTok video (not audio) of first video after opening app disappears in a second

Recently when I open TikTok, after a second or so the first video (that automatically shows in the Home tab) turns into a simple dark background (not black) while the audio keeps running. When the video loops back the video stays off. Swiping to the next video (which plays fine), then back up doesn't make it reappear. I already tried clearing app cache and reinstalling the app. Pixel phone. Did a search for this issue and didn't find the exact same. Is this happening with anyone else?
