The number of people in these comments unable to understand that the show is not supporting the character's beliefs is staggering.

Braceface never really was afraid to tackle difficult subjects like racism and EDs, was super progressive and frankly ahead of its time. This character and scene is supposed to make you uncomfortable.

This isn't exactly "hidden" or subtle. Leaves out the context of the rest of the episode too. Lots of denseness in the comments, unfortunately.
