Is niching down really the key to growth, or is it more about content quality?
I’ve been creating content consistently for about 2 years, and honestly, I’m feeling stuck.
I’ve tried a mix of beauty, lifestyle, NYC content, vlogs, GRWMs, and some storytelling. I post consistently across TikTok and Instagram, but my growth has been pretty slow. My page is sitting around 8k followers, and I haven’t had the breakthrough I was hoping for.
Meanwhile, I see creators who post the same format every single day (for example, outfit videos or “it’s ___ in NYC, let’s get ready” style content) and they grow from 1k to 30k+ in just a couple of months.
I’m starting to wonder if my biggest problem is that I’m too broad.
For those of you who’ve actually grown an account:
Did niching down make a noticeable difference?
Is it better to become known for one repeatable content series before expanding?
Or is consistency with one format more important than the niche itself?
If you were starting over today, what would you focus on?
I’m considering committing to one content format for 30 days just to see what happens.
Would love to hear what’s worked (or didn’t work) for you.
