Modern looking Oriental Express that probably costs more to stay on board in one night than it is to rent an apartment for a month
Tell us more!
Wish the US had more train travel. You see a lot of cabins like these in train museums though
Train: Venice Simplon-Orient-Express
Suite: L'Observatoire
31 sq. meters (333 sq. feet)
$78,000 to $104,000 USD per night for two guests
Stop exalting luxury! These things only exist when there’s ungodly concentrations of wealth. I’d rather 10,000 clean, functional trains exist in place of this one gaudy luxury car.
Sick of media making us think we want luxurious experiences while upholding a system that deprives many of us of agency in our own lives.
I couldn't care less about how rich people live.
This is totally how I feel when I take the Metra into Chicago at 6:15am in November.
Trains like this were invented for the newly ultra wealthy classes in the late 19th century (in the U.S.) to better accommodate the scum I mean rich peaking in the gilded age. No wonder we are back to ensuring the rich can maintain their need to feel special inside the cabin while they breeze pass the destitution they cause outside of it.
Why is there a sliding ladder?
Where’s the toilet?
