it's not just an issue with getting education. It also has to do with what you get out of it. Most bible belts regions is within farm land. If you grow up and get raised into working on a farm why would you get a higher education, when you only see downsides when you look at the average person with it.
Unless you are lucky or go into something like stem you probably will have to pay of your student dept for the majority of your life. And if you look at common complains you see that having a degree didn't make people more employable.
The education system in America is deeply flawed so when you can guarantee a good liveable wage doing manual laber which is required all around you, why go against what you know? When it's the norm to get into such fields?
Pushing people to get educated isn't gonna do much when there is no insensitive to do so.

Don’t look at racial demographics for those states
You are probably being downvoted for the cringe title
Libs using the “poorly educated” trope in relation to college degrees vs. the education infrastructure in general is so tired and condescending. I didn’t finish college because the careers I was interested in didn’t justify being saddled with insane amounts of debt vs. salary, and when I realised was paying tens of thousands of dollars for the same exact classes I took in honors in high school I dipped.
Putting yourself in crushing debt when anyone with two brain cells can get accepted into a non-Ivy league school is not an intellectual flex.
There is a reason progressives cannot fucking stand liberals. I didn’t start a successful business without mommy daddy money with a team of people who love their careers and get paid incredibly well by being an idiot, or “poorly educated” by lib standards because I didn’t graduate.
Working class solidarity cannot exist with dipshit liberal takes like these. On the point of religion being anti-intellectual, yes absolutely, but that runs deep culturally and forming coalitions with working class people (yes including the religious ones) won’t happen if you continue calling them idiots.
