I’ve had to stop reading comments under videos about this because as a healthcare worker who’s worked with women with PPP the lack of empathy and understanding is genuinely upsetting. People being so completely incapable of understanding that psychosis is an illness and her brain literally fucking failed her is alarming.

This happened local to me so this story is on the news more or less every 10 minutes. I really wish they would stop covering it as much as they are because it’s traumatic to watch and it’s so complicated, I don’t think the two minute news segments do anyone any good, viewing public or the people involved in the case. Just heartbreaking all around.

The debate is if this is truly post partum psychosis or not.

People seem to think it doesn't matter if it is or not but that's just ignorance of what PPP is.

Most cases stop at post partum blues. Rarely progresses to past partum depression. But even rarer is patpartum psychosis which is the most extreme.

It could literally happen to any women.

If it is PPP then this is a tragic case where the medical system failed her and her support network failed her.

I don't blame the women in situations like this.

I don't pretend to know about PPP, but I do know psychosis as a schizo, and I have had a strong impulse to hurt the dog I love most. Why? I don't know. I was trying a new antipsychotic out at the time, and I don't know if it caused the impulse, or if it just didn't control my psychosis and that is where it went. At any rate, it required a lot of self control, possibly more than most have, for me not to hurt the dog.

If this is what happened to this woman with her kids, I just feel very sorry for her. I can relate, and I know what she has done probably tears her up inside to an extreme we can hardly even imagine. I'm not particularly religious, but it's as if the devil tries to force you to do something that you can hardly even stomach.

Hearing voices? Becoming a threat to others and then yourself? Voiced being suicidal? Sounds like psychosis and postpartum to me. Nothing rational about the situation...

This woman is living in hell either way but I believe that she was going thru very serious mental issues with postpartum depression as well. I can’t imagine the grief and anguish no matter the verdict.

The defense attorney is good. We’ll see all the facts of the case and see.
