EF3 tornado hits village in France

Always remember what they say about tornados: The best place to be is up against a window with your face smooshed against the glass.

So just in case any of my European homies find themselves in the path of a tornado.

1. get the FUCK away from the windows

2. get to the most interior room in your home or basement

3. head between your legs and wait, maybe with a mattress/bicycle helmet on

If you're outside

Do NOT get under an overpass, it'll become a wind tunnel and you'll be fucked.

Get face down in a ditch or lowest point you can find, protect your head. If you're in a car make sure it's safe first.

But if you had to take anything from this it should be get the FUCK away from your windows.

And without giving it a "goog" I'm going to assume that France typically doesn't have tornados or if they do not near this size and this is some how tied to climate change?

TIL Europe records roughly 300 to 500 tornadoes (including waterspouts) a year. Countries like Germany, France, Italy, and the UK experience them regularly, but roughly 60% to 80% of these are weak (EF0 to EF1).

EF3's like this or greater are rare, happening once every few years but seem to be happening more unfortunately

I know that in the moment, it seems like pushing on the door helps, but in reality, if the force of whatever's out there is strong enough to overcome the physical properties of the mechanisms keeping the door closed, there's no way you're stopping it, and you're also injured now.

It's better and safer to seek shelter in an interior room with no windows.

I live in Tornado Alley, I can't tell you how many times I've seen people completely disregard their own safety in the face of a tornado.

And that guy standing in front of that wall of glass made me highly uncomfortable. Epically poor decision making
