I love when people hate socialism and support the police in the same sentence.

I think the fundamental issue with debates about socialism is that it means very different things to different people. There's a vast spectrum of economic policies,.

To some it means a market economy but where the government regulates corporations to prevent harm, and has social programs to help the poor, disabled, homeless, etc. through taxes, especially through added tax brackets with a high tax rate like what the US used to have. This is usually the kind of policy that Social Democrats espouse in the US.

For others, it means a completely command economy, where the government controls every aspect of economic life. This is the kind of socialism that many Republicans think of - the system in North Korea and the Soviet Union.

I'm a fan of the first one. The second one, time has largely relegated to the rubbish bin of history. It was very ineffectient, was less innovative, and lends itself to systems where the few who get to make those economic decisions become a new oligarchy that simply replaces the old one and doesn't actually serve the needs of the people.

American's have been brainwashed about socialism being worse than capitalism and generally bad. The system as it is today is broken and exploitative and I'm not sure why people who are are not multi millionaires would ever rally against a more equitable economic system that would improve their lives.

Learn the definition of fascism and try really hard to see how it's not happen again

Because the rich and the corporations brainwashed people into believing that it’s bad. Because they would not continue to have their insane, immoral record profits if we were a socialist country.
