Guy thinks that Harry Potter books are "objectively not good"

I've noticed this is a rapidly growing trend on Reddit lately where people misuse the word "objectively" and think that if they have an opinion they strongly believe and that they can provide reasoning for, that means their opinion is objectively true. Or they think that if a significant amount of people hold a certain opinion, it makes it objectively true. They just fundamentally misunderstand the word.

Repeatedly trying to kill Sonic The Hedgehog isn't good either.

I liked this guy on mythbusters

Ironically, this is objectively false. She is world renowned, so she objectively does have the skills to be one. The problem is that whatever those skills are don't match up with what he subjectively believes they should be

You could say "she didn't get to that status through skills, she got to it through luck". OK. Great. We have just established that you do not need to possess any skills to be a world renowned author. So you're still wrong. Objectively. (but actually this time)

There are huge plot holes and timeline issues. For example Hagrid and Voldemort are 70 years old in Book 7. She pushed the timeline too far back in Chamber of Secrets and got stuck.

Why is he going on about her hitting a niche in America at the right time? Does he think it’s only popular in America? I can’t name another book not in the lord of the rings series by Tolkien is he garbage as well?

I agree there are very concrete issues with the books, but he mentions none of them.

A lot of bad authors sell a lot of bad books. But I'm guessing there is another reason this person is angry that people like Harry Potter and by extension J.K Rowling
