TikTok users are debating whether Anne is genuinely offended here…

She is playfully giving him a hard time for a poorly worded question. She smiles through the whole thing. People are so eager to take down beautiful and famous people that they will create controversy where there clearly is none.

Chris (the interviewer) has said that Anne was very nice and she was teasing him. He said phrased the question poorly. He meant what’s her workout routine.

As someone who has used this tactic MANY times to redirect an inappropriate conversation, my take is that yes she is annoyed at the question but more annoyed that so many people feel it is appropriate to ask, not just this specific interviewer. So, she is making an example of him. 

She is using comedy to diffuse the tension while playfully scolding him to firstly convey that she will not be answering, and secondly that he should not have asked. 

She is a deft communicator and uses all tools in her arsenal, like teasing, shaming, smiling, faux shock, body language, and humor. The internet is so bad at understanding anything that isn't literally said, and even then it is often misconstrued. 

Of course she didn't like it, but she wasn't actually that surprised at the question, she was hamming it up on purpose. She has notoriously been asked many rude questions and she knows how to redirect that energy.

Only Anne Hathaway can say for sure, but I will say that I do something very similar when a familt member says something to me that is clearly offensive/mean - e.g., making a 'joke' about how my mom just sounded passive aggressive is a safer way to point out the behaviour than to tell her what she said hurt my feelings (since that usually makes her defensive and ends up with an argument/blow-up)...
