Instagram Handle Transfer

I have a very rare handle on an account I’ve owned and used since 2011 - it’s my surname, 8 letters, fairly common and already used by many businesses. I’m looking to establish a new business using the name, and would obviously like to use the handle for the business account.

I have years of photos, messages, history, etc. on the account so there’s no way I will delete all of that and use the existing account for the business moving forward. I want to transfer the handle onto a brand new account, and I’m wondering what the best way to go about doing this is.

From what I understand, when I change the handle, there will be a grace period of 14 days where I can change it back anytime. After the 14 days, it will be released back into circulation, but there’s no guarantee exactly when it will be released, and someone else could snipe it before I do.

So my question is how can I safely transfer my existing rare handle onto a new account? Is there a route by reaching out to Meta or Meta Verified directly? Has anyone else dealt with the same situation and managed to resolve it? Would appreciate any input here, many thanks!
