Life of a man who's alone

This is exactly the stage people should be at before they get into a life long relationship. 

Personal flip side to this. Background: never married, no kids, haven't dated since 2008.

Yep, I feel alone. No real family around me. At 51, living in a studio and working in a kitchen/dr setting. I come home and I am happy, I am fine. I don't even have a car.

Do I wish I had someone. Absolutely! Missed opportunities, timing wasn't right, etc. I never dated, just to date and have someone. I see so much animosity, hatred, divorce and just unhappy people around me because of their significant other.

I know so many people that are on their second/third marriage. I know a lot of 'never married' that just complain about their partner.

It is about a 50/50 draw on whether they are dating a male or female. Coming to work and the need to slide into the conversation about how 'bat shit crazy' your other half is ... does not create a good look.

Being alone can be a good time if you enjoy your own company

But you have to be careful, because sometimes you can become your own echo chamber, and that is not a good thing.

I'm in my mid thirties and haven't ever had a single friend (ugly af+interpersonal issues) and this dude is at like the point of no return where it genuinely becomes impossible to make a meaningful human connection. Once you start telling yourself you're not lonely you're completely fucked

You just learn to let yourself be lonely. Sit with that feeling when it comes, then get on with your life when it passes. It's just as valid as any other emotion.
