Agree with everything, except for the Irish Goodbye. Call me an asshole if you want, but sometimes I’m just done. BYE.

I work at a Security Office and sit at a window to our office and help people all day. The amount of times people come up and just put down their tickets to be validated or their id’s down to get a pass and don’t say a bloody thing is insane. I get the waving it in the face too. No hellos, no please or thank yous, just a cold stare like I can read their minds or like I’m their personal slave. And they’ll ring the bell in my face too, even when I’m helping others. It’s gross. Some people even demand me to do stuff, and I’m no pushover, so they learn very quickly about that. I have to tell grown adults how to say please all day. I started hating people more and more. We live in such an insanely selfish, “everyone is a main character” world right now. I’m surprised some people don’t have mini planets revolving around their heads like they’re the centre of the universe.

I often have to attend birthday parties for children where I stand around with adults with whom I have absolutely no connection other than the fact that both of our children are in attendance. Please take heed of the suggestion to learn how to ask questions. Don't make the other person do all the heavy lifting (listening?). I am 44. Grown ups are fucking hopeless at this, too.

Ok I will be the jerk not to ask the person at the cafe how their day is going. I already know they’re half asleep. I don’t wanna waste more of their time and energy

I still remember a while back I was deep in thought while walking into a restaurant and didn't even realize that this guy held the door open for me until he mumbled a sarcastic "you're welcome". I quickly snapped out of it and turned around to apologize so profusely that the dude seemed embarrassed for his remark and even apologized himself and I was like, "no, no, I'm big on thank you's and being polite, I was just in my head."

Hard agree*

*I meet a lot of people.
My wife does not like “to people”.

If I don’t introduce you in the first 10 seconds, she knows, that I do not remember your name.

She says hi, and she gets their name for both of us.

We have a system. I love my wife.

WIBTA if I send this to my girlfriend? She does none of these things yet she's an incredibly kind person. It's confusing.
