Why test chemicals on animals when there's so many poor people about?

The shampoo and lipstick are both from brands that don’t test on animals… I get the point they’re trying to make but feels like bad examples

I work in animal research (medical, not cosmetic) and videos like this upset me because they’re so misinformed. There are sooooo many rules and regulations put in place to control studies and minimize any pain and suffering for animals. That isn’t to say that there will be NO pain or discomfort, but animals are never left to experience prolonged suffering.

Also, a huge goal of the animal research community is to find ways to move AWAY from animal research. We operate under the 3Rs- Reduce (the number of animals used in studies), Replace (animals with other models when possible), Refine (your research to minimize the use of animals). We’re making progress all the time, but it can’t happen overnight.

I’m happy to answer questions anyone may have (or take any insults you feel like hurling my way, believe me I’ve heard them all before).

P.S. Those companies that say they don’t use animal testing? Some of them just use compounds that other people had tested on animals 🫣

They test products on animals to see if they go bald or get cancer, not this stupid shit. We'll never have access to the failed products, or we do but they're branded as industrial cleaners

Animal testing for makeup is absolutely awful and should be stopped. However medical testing on animals is unfortunately necessary. Our medical advancements would be so so so much slower.
