LinkedIn gets more reach, but half the feed reads like a motivational poster. X has better conversations but unless you already have followers it feels like posting into the void.
If you have used both, which one helped you build a professional audience better and how long did it take?
LinkedIn is where professional audiences actually convert. X is great for shooting the shit with smart people but unless you already have some credibility there its a ghost town. Took me about four months of consistent posting on linkedin before i started getting inbound offers, the reach on there is weirdly good if you skip the cringe inspirational stuff and just talk like a human
linkedin if ur B2B or want jobs or clients out of it... the motivational poster stuff is real but its mostly the big accounts. ur feed fixes itself once u follow and engage with people in ur actual field
what helps more than posting at the start is commenting. proper comments on 5-10 posts a day from people in ur niche, a new account gets seen way more in other people's comments than in its own posts for the first couple months i think
and skip the one line per sentence template everyone uses. write it like ur explaining something to a colleague, it stands out now just because so much of the feed looks the same
id give it 3 months of 2-3 posts a week before judging it
The motivational posts would put me off too. Check a few small accounts in your field on each platform and see which ones get replies from peers you'd want to know, rather than judging by the biggest accounts.
For me, any kinds of business/professional or job related would be better in LinkedIn. But you can actually skip the motivational shits and just share the real, no sugar-coating condition about your professional things. Conversations will follow you anywhere, IF the matters are worth to talk about.
if you can only do one, pick linkedin and be boring about it: 3 posts a week, each about something specific you did or learned, not hot takes. the motivational stuff gets likes but the 'here's exactly how i did X' posts get you DMs. X is easier as a second platform once you already have people to talk to
I’d lean towards LinkedIn if you’re targeting business owners or decision-makers. You can skip the motivational posters 😂 Useful answers to customer questions and real examples of your work give people something to engage with.

If you want to choose between the two, it would be LinkedIn. Consistent posting will get you far. I have managed accounts across different platforms; I do it all in Eclincher. You can check both of your accounts there; no need for you to go to other tabs. It works well for me.

Definitely changed my life & gives me so much more free time but also ruined my life. Its been 2 years & im slowly starting to hate it , especially as somebody who runs everything by themselves with no help. It’s a lot more than people think and actually having control over everything and choosing your own schedule is much harder than some people think you have to push yourself more to make the content to engage to produce to push yourself to a new extreme and much more, I will say I’ve learned a lot, but I’ve also lost a lot , my brain chemistry will never be the same again after this job, which I’m OK with that, but there’s a lot more to it than what people say, especially in the industry that I work in

Hear me out. One post hits 500K views, you pick up a couple thousand followers who came for that one random thing, and then your next 10 posts do worse than before the viral one. Those new people followed a moment, not you. They don't watch your normal stuff, so the platform sees lower watch time and engagement on everything after and quietly pulls back reach. From what I've seen, more small accounts stall after a viral hit than grow from it. The ones that actually benefit already had a clear thing they post about, so the viral post was just a louder version of their normal content. I haven’t built a business of my own, so I don’t feel qualified to give people business advice or act like a coach. I don’t want to pretend that I know everything when I’m still learning myself. I enjoy watching them, but I often come away feeling motivated rather than knowing what I should actually do to get started.
